The city of God is everywhere

This is a painting my husband John painted while in Art School at Wayne State University in downtown Detroit.

This has been in the attic for over 40 years…many projects awaiting the proper framing had been banished there.

“THE WORLD IS CHARGED WITH THE GRANDEUR OF GOD”, says Gerard Manly Hopkins in one of his beautiful poems. And “Like the shining from shook foil”, eventually it catches our eye.

God’s presence was captured and resurrected originally “in the midst of chaos” and hustle bustle of the big city through oils on canvas and a brush in John’s hand. Through ART, and an artist’s vision, this “achieved stillness” has now become a prayer.

The mice have lost one painting in their attic museum which now hangs near the printer in my son’s room…still unframed…yet its beauty shining like shook foil.
